UVa Men Sweep Ithaca and Maryland

BALTIMORE, Maryland – The UVa Men improved to 3-1 on the season with a dominating performance at the Meadow Mill Round Robin on Saturday. The Cavaliers, who are ranked 44 in the most recent CSA standings, surrendered just three games en route to 9-0 victories over both Ithaca College and the University of Maryland. Team captain James Patteson continued his impressive senior campaign, picking up wins over Ithaca’s Brad Kolodner (3-0) and Maryland’s Jakob Metz (3-1 ) at the #1 position. Youth also prevailed, as first years Ned Whelan (#2) and Matt Brown (#3) offered UVa squash fans a glimpse of  brilliance to come. Roy Flemmer, Noel Flemmer, Zach Starsia, Robert Patterson, and Michael Bender also picked up wins over the weekend. As did Yong Han Yeong, who took down Ithaca’s Daniel Golden 3-0 in his first top-nine start as a Cavalier. For full results, check UVa’s team page on US Squash.

The UVa Men and Women’s teams close out their regular seasons this weekend (February 3-4) at the George Washington University Round Robin. On the docket for the men are  30th-ranked Georgetown and 40th-ranked Vanderbilt. The women, currently ranked 31 in the nation, will face 14th-ranked GW and 40th-ranked Vanderbilt.
